|---|---|
| Casting time | Reaction, which you take when you or a creature you can see within 60 feet of you falls |
| Range | 60 feet |
| Components | V, M (a small feather or piece of down) |
| Duration | 1 minute |
Six companions are falling within range when a caster uses Feather Fall. No special feature alters the spell. How many of those companions can this casting protect?
Up to five of them.
The spell explicitly allows up to five falling creatures. A group is not treated as one creature for that limit, so the caster must select no more than five. The protection also depends on landing before the duration ends; it is not a permanent removal of all future falling consequences.
The Reaction must be available at the trigger. The spell slows a fall rather than granting a Fly Speed, and its damage prevention is tied to landing while it remains active.
Which creatures are selected, is the Reaction available, and can they land before the minute ends?
Level 1 Transmutation (Bard, Sorcerer, Wizard) Casting Time: Reaction, which you take when you or a creature you can see within 60 feet of you falls Range: 60 feet Components: V, M (a small feather or piece of down) Duration: 1 minute Choose up to five falling creatures within range. A falling creature’s rate of descent slows to 60 feet per round until the spell ends. If a creature lands before the spell ends, the creature takes no damage from the fall, and the spell ends for that creature.
